Medical Update for January 2010
| Happy Valentine’s Everyone!
I was able to get into see my neurologist a few days earlier than expected on January 8th 2010. This visit wasn’t what I had hoped it would be. I was hoping for more answers and solutions but received more tests. I know understand these tests are necessary to make a complete diagnosis. My neurologist also asked me to find a primary internal doctor to handle my overall care and prescribed Lexapro a much needed antidepressant. On January 12th 2010 I had a Lumbar Puncture as well as some blood work. The results of these tests were all positive. The good news was there nothing MS related showed up in my cerebrospinal fluid. But also nothing showed up as to why I am feeling the way I do. On January 15th 2010 I had a L-Spine MRI. The results of this were that there was no evidence of focal disc herniation. There was no evidence of bony spinal or foraminal stenosis. And Third Small annular tears with associated mild diffuse disc bilges at L4-L5 & L5-S1 that do not appear to significantly indent the dural sac at either level. On January 17th 2010 I had my first appointment with my wonderful primary internal physician. We did all the normal fun stuff you do at a female check up. We reviewed the results of the Lumbar Puncture, L-Spine MRI and Blood work. I did have low potassium but that was pretty much it. No Lupus and a few other things I can’t remember the names of. We still needed to hear from the neurologist. I also scheduled an appointment to see a therapist and seen her for the first time on January 19th 2010. I have since seen my primary internal physician a second time on January 25th 2009 as well as a seeing my therapist a second time on January 27th 2009. Friday January 23rd my neurologist called and stated that she as well as several other neurologists had looked at my slides and they did not mach up with the written radiologists report. While at first I seen it a slight set back I am all for scanning my brain again. So we just did a second Brain MRI on Friday January 29th 2009. I currently have the films. So today February 1st 2009 I am waiting to talk to the doctors. My neurologist isn’t due into the office until Friday and I hope my primary doctor calls me. I have to say that I am feeling pretty good. Learning each day how to deal with the “new me. |

[...] At this point I went into a state where I was crying about anything and everything (and I mean everything). I was crying all the time. By the time it was December 24th 2009 I was in such a terrible place. Everything was worse. My thought processing slowed down, I couldn’t focus, confused, my legs and arms were so weak. I talked to the doctor who had ordered the Brain MRI again. He just stated a needed to be patient and wait for my appointment with my neurologist in January. [...]
