My Medical History for 2009
| Hello!
I’m usually really quiet about my personal life but I think it’s important I share as much information I can to my family members and if it helps anyone going thru something similar even better. First I should say on some level I have know I haven’t been right for a while but I couldn’t really put a finger on it and so I set it aside. I am always busy taking care of the kids. I have 5 kids aging 16 to 3. My 16 year old son is high functioning Autistic. I tend to put their needs way higher than my own. In addition I provide most of the income into my family. I am a very independent, hard headed girl. I tend to hide how bad I feel to those around me and act like nothing is wrong. Early in the year 2009 I tried basic doctor at a clinic told her I wasn’t feeling right and felt like I was starting to fall apart. I was told that I was younger than she was and need to buck up. I was quit discouraged and really didn’t know what to do. My hip was causing a lot of pain that radiated up into my back and neck. Approximately May 2009 I noticed my left leg begin a tingling sensation and have this weird numbness. I figured it had to do with my left hip being dislocated in an auto accident I was in January of 1986. In June of 2009 I noticed my right leg to also start with the same tingling and numbness. This worried me. I made an appointment to see an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hips and was know from family members. My first appointment with orthopedic surgeon was July 15th 2009. He took x-rays of both my hips and my back. My left hip was abnormal, totally expected. It from my understanding has spurs and a tumor/cyst on it. The doctor scheduled me for a hip MRI on August 11th 2009. The MRI lead to my having steroid injections into my hip which were done August 21st 2009. I have had relief from the injections to say the least. The pain I was in from my hip was just getting unbearable. But it left a lot of underlying issues. The tingling and numbness was getting worse and moving up my legs and they now cause weakness and heavy. I also noticed my hands start to tingle and feel “weird”. I had a return visit to my orthopedic doctor on September 29th 2009. Even though I found some relief with the hip injection I still expressed my concern over the tingling and numbness moving up both legs and that my right seemed wore than my left. I also expressed my concern over not sleeping well. He prescribed Kolonipin 1mg @ bedtime. On October 16th 2009 I was walking down two steps from my kitchen to the living room and I slipped and sprained my ankle. On November 10th 2009 I had a return visit to my orthopedic doctor in which he referred me to a Conservative Spinal/Orthopedic doctor for a nerve test. I saw this doctor on November 24th 2009. He did a mild exam and said that he thought it would be best to go ahead and schedule a brain MRI instead of the nerve test he was scheduled to perform. The nerve test was wasting time and would just cause me pain. So a Brain MRI it was. December 1st 2009 was my Brain MRI. On December 3rd 2009 I spoke with the new doctor on the phone he stated that I had MS and would need to see a neurologist. I talked to him about raising the Kolonipin to 2 times a day. He agreed. The radiologist’s written report states in the impressions area that I have between 9 & 13 foci of increased T2 signal in the subcortical white matter of both frontal regions with some in the right parietal lobe consistent with a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. At this point I went into a state where I was crying about anything and everything (and I mean everything). I was crying all the time. By the time it was December 24th 2009 I was in such a terrible place. Everything was worse. My thought processing slowed down, I couldn’t focus, confused, my legs and arms were so weak. I talked to the doctor who had ordered the Brain MRI again. He just stated a needed to be patient and wait for my appointment with my neurologist in January. |
