What you need to know for the Utah American Idol Audition Registration Process

Can you believe it is finally here! Salt Lake City’s American Idol Season 8 Audition process starts tomarrow morning! The first TWO days will be “registration days” which you will go to the EnergySolutions Arena where Wristbands (I have seen pink colored ones) will be distributed from approximately 8:00 AM on Sunday, July 27 until 8:00 AM on Tuesday, July 29. No camping over night! And you don’t need to attend both days just one or the other so once you obtain your wristband, you will need to return to the EnergySolutions Arena on Tuesday, July 29. Make sure you don’t take off your wristband.

If the past seven seasons are any indication, there will be a huge turnout in each audition city so Salt Lake City should be no differant. Plan on arriving as early as allowed at EnergySolutions Arena Tuesday, July 29 this means 5 AM! The front of the line is at Door 2 at the corner of 400 West & South Temple. Plenty of area parking available on a first come first served basis. The Parking Place at 300 W. Temple has over 2000 spaces available. Parking rates vary. Keep in mind that there is no guarantee that you will be seen for an audition regardless of whether or not you have a wristband and/or seat ticket.

Each city may be different and audition rules may change at the Producer’s discretion but the current plan is that those who make it through the first and second round of open auditions in each city will be asked to return for subsequent rounds. This may take several days, so be prepared. From my understanding if you make it that far, a week or maybe more before you will get a call back to be seen buy the judge Paula, Randy and Simon. Keep in minds they are not even going to be in SLC on the 29th nor is there a date set of when they will be here. The 1 & 2 Semi-Final rounds are currently scheduled for November 2008. Season Eight is scheduled to begin airing January 2009

Keep in mind there are special rules for those under 18. Example: Your parent/guardian needs to attend both registation to get wristband/seat ticket too so they can attend the audition. Releases need to be signed too!
You are only allowed ONE guest.
No kids under 5 are allowed at the registration or audition. No exeptions!
