Loren Allred
I have found a young girl who I think has a beautiful voice. Deseret News reports she has made it past the first round at her audition here at the ESA in Salt lake City, Utah last week. Her audition song was “Listen” from the musical “Dreamgirls” Here is a little about her.. check it out now because if she does make past the judges & to the top 24 during Hollywood week it will all dissappear. Good Luck Loren and all the other American Idol Season 8 hopefuls. I am am getting so excited for another great year!
Loren Allred grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania but moved to Salt Lake City, Utah almost five years ago. She has taken piano lessons for ten years. At Cottonwood High School Loren was involved in many musicals. In her senior year of High School she was voted first place in the school’s talent show. Allred is currently from Murray and attended Murray High School — just like last season’s “American Idol” runner-up, David Archuleta. She was in the a cappella choir all three years of High School. She was also selected to be in the Madrigal choir and had many solos. She was a soloist at her graduation in front of thousands of people. She received a full scholarship to Weber State University for musical theatre. During this past year she has performed with a local jazz ensemble. Also this year she has been receiving vocal training from David Schmidt. Loren was also voted first place in Murray Idol. She was selected to be in the Murray Arts in the Park series. She got a full scholarship to Weber State for musical theater. Loren always has a smile. She loves to perform and describes her voice as a “pop” voice. She was accepted to, her dream school, Berklee School of Music (in Boston, Massachusetts) and is scheduleed to start in the fall.
Loren Allred has loved “American Idol” since it premiered back in 2002. And since then, she’s wanted to audition for the show. I’ve been wanting to audition since I was 14,” said Allred, now 18. “But my parents couldn’t accompany me to the auditions, which were out of state. And it was a requirement for a parent or guardian to accompany a minor. “But this year, it’s here and I’ll be 19 in September,” the Murray resident said. “So the age thing isn’t an issue.”
In fact, Allred is so serious about auditioning that she spent Saturday night in her van in a parking lot near the EnergySolutions Arena just so she could be there bright and early to register Sunday morning. “I got in line about 4 a.m.,” Allred said. “There were already 300 people in line. The registration wasn’t suppose to begin until 8 a.m., but they opened up at 7 a.m. and I was done by 7:30 a.m.”
Allred, who works as an assistant at Nexant, an energy- consultant firm, grew up in a musical family. Her parents, Carol Ann and Brady Allred, are voice teachers at the University of Utah. And her three younger sisters sing, too.
“My parents and I have different music styles,” Allred said with a laugh. “But they have helped me a lot. My mom has helped me with my warm-ups and my dad has helped me develop my voice. And both know the music business and know the good and bad of the industry.”
