Audition dates and locations for Season 8 have not yet been announced. Audition dates and location information will be posted as soon as it is made available. Typically auditions usually begin in the last week of July or the first week of August. Audition cities and dates usually are announced in late June or early July. Season 8 shows will begin airing early 2009.

David Archuleta will perform at the sold out American Idol concert tour in July 14 here in Salt Lake City. A Second night July 15th was added.
The next American Idol is.... David Cook. He won by 12 million votes. And is Crying! He walks around the stage and keeps crying. Cook says he started the season as the word nerd and is at a loss for ords. He thanks his fans. His mom 7 Brother hugs him onstage. Cook sings "Time of My Life" Fireworks come down Confetti drops. SYTYCD dancers come out Donna Summer comes down the stairs in all black with a diamond-sparkling microphone. Song might be titled "Stamp Your Feet" judging from the chorus. Donna goes into "Last Dance". Top 6 girls all line up next to her Syesha Mercado standing beside her Fantasia shown in audience.

Salt Lake City, Utah, to audition contestants for next season's show.
The show's producer, Nigel Lythgoe, told Utah Fox affiliate KSTU Channel 13
that he was impressed with the level of talent in Utah. His other Fox reality
show, "So You Think You Can Dance," stopped in Salt Lake City last winter for
this upcoming season, and it's rumored that a number of Utahns were picked
for the next round of auditions in Las Vegas. "He said they had so
many great singers and dancers there that they will be stopping
there [for "Idol"]," a Fox spokeswoman said Tuesday.
