July 29 th American Idol Audition Day for Salt Lake City, Utah has come. Deseret News reports that “Idol” senior producer Patrick Lynn says while nothing is set out of the estimated 4,000-6,000 people who showed up to audition for the eight season of American Idol this morning at the EnergySolutions Arena, only about 200-400 are expected to make it to the second of three rounds.

What you need to know for the Utah American Idol Audition Registration Process

Can you believe it is finally here! Salt Lake City’s American Idol Season 8 Audition process starts tomarrow morning! The first TWO days will be “registration days” which you will go to the EnergySolutions Arena where Wristbands (I have seen pink colored ones) will be distributed from approximately 8:00 AM on Sunday, July 27 until 8:00 AM on Tuesday, July 29. No camping over night! And you don’t need to attend both days just one or the other so once you obtain your wristband, you will need to return to the EnergySolutions Arena on Tuesday, July 29. Make sure you don’t take off your wristband.

American Idol Audition Process

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

When to Line Up for Auditions: It is anticipated that auditions will start no later than 8:00 a.m. on the audition day in each city. Even if you are in line before 8:00 a.m., producer cannot guarantee that you will be seen for an audition. Some venues may prevent people from lining up before 5:00 a.m., so you must continue to check our website at www.americanidol.com DAILY for the most up-to-date audition schedule and information. ALL INFORMATION CONCERNING THE AUDITIONS IS TENTATIVE AT THIS TIME. Audition cities, dates and/or times may change. If the past seven seasons are any indication, we are expecting a huge turnout in each city. You should therefore plan on arriving as early as allowed at your audition venue. Keep in mind that there is no guarantee that you will be seen for an audition regardless of whether or not you have a wristband and/or seat ticket. THERE WILL BE NO OVERNIGHT CAMPING INSIDE OR OUTSIDE ANY OF THE VENUES.

What to Bring to the Auditions:

  • Wristband and Seat Ticket: You must NOT remove the wristband issued to you on registration day. You must bring the wristband and seat ticket with you to the audition.
  • Identification: Bring the same two forms of identification that you brought with you to the registration day (for example, a birth certificate and driver’s license or a birth certificate and a passport or a birth certificate and a school ID card).
  • Proof of Citizenship/Residency: If your birth certificate was not issued in the United States, you must bring proof of citizenship and/or permanent U.S. residency.
  • Release: Print out and sign the Release form provided at www.americanidol.com. This Release form will only be available in a limited supply at the audition venues, so please bring the signed form with you to the audition if at all possible. If you are under 18 years of age and you are accompanied by a guardian appointed by your parent or legal guardian who does not have authority to sign on your behalf, you MUST bring the Release signed and NOTARIZED by your parent or legal guardian.

AI Audition Registration Process

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

When to Line Up for Registration: It is currently anticipated that registration will begin TWO days prior to the audition day in each city. You should come to the venue and register during designated times on either of the two registration days prior to the audition day. It may also be possible to register EARLY on the morning of the audition day; however, if you wait until the audition day to register, you will be one of the last people to register and we may run out of space and/or time to accommodate you. You should therefore register as early as possible on one of the two designated registration days for your city. THERE WILL BE NO OVERNIGHT CAMPING ALLOWED INSIDE OR OUTSIDE ANY OF THE VENUES. All information concerning registration and audition locations, dates and times is tentative at this time. Continue to check our website DAILY at www.americanidol.com for the most up-to-date registration and audition schedule and information.

Locations, Dates and Time: It is anticipated that registration will start no later than 8:00 a.m. on the first registration day in each city and will continue until the early morning of the actual audition day. Continue to check our website at www.americanidol.com DAILY for up-to-date registration times and other information. Tentative audition cities are listed below. THESE LOCATIONS, DATES AND TIMES ARE ALL SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

What to Bring to Registration: You MUST bring two forms of ID to registration day that show proof of your age and a photograph (for example, a birth certificate and driver’s license or a birth certificate and a passport or a birth certificate and a school ID card). After showing proper ID, you will be given a wristband and a seat ticket (provided there are still some available for that venue). You will be allowed to have one (1) person accompany you to the audition; however, THAT PERSON MUST ALSO BE PRESENT WITH YOU DURING REGISTRATION SO THAT WE CAN ISSUE THEM A SEAT TICKET AND WRISTBAND. NO CHILDREN UNDER 5 YEARS OF AGE WILL BE ALLOWED AT THE AUDITION VENUES.

Contestants Under 18 Years of Age: If you will be under 18 years of age on the day you register and/or audition, your parent and/or legal guardian MUST accompany you to the registration and audition. In addition, your parent or legal guardian must bring a government-issued photo ID (for example, a driver¡¦s license or passport). If you are accompanied by a legal guardian, as opposed to a parent, your legal guardian must bring proof of guardianship (for example, a court order). If your parent or legal guardian is not available to accompany you to the registration and audition, your parent or legal guardian may appoint a guardian to accompany you to the registration and audition process. YOUR APPOINTED GUARDIAN MUST BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OF AGE AND MUST ACCOMPANY YOU TO THE VENUE FOR THE REGISTRATION AND AUDITION DAYS. In order to appoint a guardian, your parent or legal guardian must complete, sign and have NOTARIZED the attached Guardian and Medical Authorization for Minors form. You MUST bring the signed and notarized form to registration with you, along with your appointed guardian. Your parent or legal guardian must also sign and have NOTARIZED the attached Release. You MUST bring the signed and notarized Release with you to the audition, along with your appointed guardian. Your appointed guardian must also bring a government-issued photo ID (for example, a driver¡¦s license or passport) to registration and the audition.

Wristband Rules: It is currently anticipated that wristbands, or some other form of identification, will be handed out to those people chosen by the producer to continue in the audition process. In order to be admitted to the venue on audition day, you MUST receive a wristband and seat ticket from the producer. IF YOU RECEIVE A WRISTBAND FROM THE PRODUCERS DURING THE REGISTRATION PROCESS, YOU MUST NOT REMOVE THE WRISTBAND PRIOR TO YOUR AUDITION. IN ADDITION, YOU MUST NOT GIVE THE WRISTBAND TO ANOTHER PERSON OR ACCEPT A WRISTBAND FROM SOMEONE OTHER THAN THE PRODUCTION STAFF. IF IT IS FOUND THAT YOU RECEIVED YOUR WRISTBAND FROM SOMEONE OTHER THAN THE PRODUCTION STAFF, OR THAT YOUR WRISTBAND HAS BEEN TAMPERED WITH IN ANY MANNER, YOU WILL BE IMMEDIATELY DISQUALIFIED FROM THE AUDITION PROCESS

Utah Loves Archie

Saturday, July 19th, 2008

David Archuleta had nothing to worry about when he said he wanted to “make Utah proud” during an interview with the Deseret News Monday afternoon. A few hours later, the screams were deafening when he appeared at American Idols Live concert at the E Center.

In fact, the screaming audience made it impossible to hear Murray’s “American Idol” runner-up sing his version of Robbie Williams’ “Angels.” It was obvious a lot of the 10,000-plus audience members were there to see the “American Idol” runner-up but not necessarily hear him.

Season 8 Auditions in Utah

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

For the first time in its seven-year history, this summer “American Idol” will visit my hometown, Salt Lake City, Utah, to audition contestants for next season’s show. The show’s producer, Nigel Lythgoe, told Utah Fox affiliate KSTU Channel 13 that he was impressed with the level of talent in Utah. His other Fox reality show, “So You Think You Can Dance,” stopped in Salt Lake City last winter for this upcoming season, and it’s rumored that a number of Utahns were picked for the next round of auditions in Las Vegas. “He said they had so many great singers and dancers there that they will be stopping there [for "Idol"],” a Fox spokeswoman said Tuesday.
